This standard is for intraoral cameras, used in dentistry at the patient for pictural representation of the oral cavity in order to support diagnosis and patient explanations. It specifies requirements, test methods, instructions for use and marking. This Standard is not applicable to: a) polymerisation lamps for polymerisation of filling materials; b) exclusively extraoral camera equipment to prepare overviews or to record treatments; c) dental microscopes for minimally invasive treatments; d) endoscopes for human medicine diagnostics; e) camera handpieces for tooth illumination (transillumination); f) CAD/CAM scanner handpieces; g) combinations of dental instruments with camera functions; h) devices for root canal inspection (endoscopic microcameras); i) cameras for tool navigation; j) determination of tooth colour.
